School Curriculum

Our school curriculum follows statutory guidance from the government about what should be taught in schools.

Curriculum content for pupils in the Foundation Stage is based on the “Curriculum Guidance for the Foundation Stage” which was published in 2000.  This document provides guidance which underpins all future learning by supporting, fostering, promoting and developing six key areas of learning. The subjects taught are:

In addition to the above the Education Act (1996) requires all schools to provide religious education for all registered pupils. At Owler Brook we follow the locally agreed syllabus.
The school has a homework policy and in KS1 children are expected to do some work at home.
This may be learning to spell new words, reading to parents through the ‘It’s Cool to Read’ initiative or practising using numbers in and around the home.

Parents are encouraged to help with, and support, their children's homework.
